Design

The design holds for the proper sensitivity towards the safety of the EVMs. The layers include proper movement internally as well as externally, safety against natural disasters, security protocols, etc. The process led to the detailed understanding of the machine itself, what the machine is all about, how many parts the machine has, no of machines and no of machines per district followed by the bureaucratic arrangement.

The flow of movement of both goods and people have been carefully drafted on the site passing through various perimeters of security zones. The outer perimeter holds the visitor cars and other people’s visits which leads to the first building where all the offices and demonstration centers are made. Towards the rear side of the site, the vaults were built where the EVMs are stored.

So the complex was designed to be a very self contained area where once the EVM enters the entire health keep of the machine is happening within the complex. It is not required to go out. The design of the building itself takes care of the circulation of the EVM machines inside the building and returning of the machines to their respective vaults.

Studies were done on the methodology of the EVM movement by a crane system and storing the different sizes in racks inside the building. The combination of the different sizes of machines from the district perspective worked out and matrix was developed to understand how the EVs will be placed under the locking key maintaining the jurisdictional access as described in the constitution.

From a technology standpoint, the EVM storage was designed to beat the fire without damaging the EVM. All the electrical connections were taken outside so that there is no hazardous substance inside the vault. The vaults itself are waterproof and have some air movement inside to ventilate completely. Layers of security were designed in the building which matches with the requirement of how the EVM should be stored.

The lower floor is designed to keep in pace the swift movement towards the truck loading, unloading and rolling them up to the vaults in the upper floor. Loading and unloading are also highly guarded and happening within this complex itself.

The front area is where the visitor access is given has a multipurpose hall which is used for reporting, surveying, and demonstration to the electoral candidates' representatives.

The facade reflects the modernism of Indian democracy. It is a statement by itself and is completely self contained and comprehensive The project boasts a symbol of election and is a pilot of many such projects to come along.
