Anheuser-Busch InBev SA/NV (abbreviated as AB InBev) is a multinational drink and brewing holdings company based in Leuven, Belgium. It has been the world's largest brewer and is considered one of the largest fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) companies in the world. The company was enlarged in 2016 when AB InBev purchase SABMiller.AB InBev, which own multiple brands, was looking to expand its APAC operations.
The office had many layers that had to be taken into consideration They were in need of a collaborative workspace that fosters an inclusive culture for the senior executives, marketing team and the channel partners, that shall deliver a rich experience of the brewery culture and brands and allow seamless communication with their other global offices.
The unique needs around collaboration and keeping in mind the organizational culture led us to rethink the design and evaluate the flow of visitors, interaction points for users, and the population pattern of spaces.
The design process started with understanding the meeting patterns for a matrix type workplace where there are equal external to internal meeting ratio and further powered by technology.
The clients required a splash of brands all across representing the values and culture while maintaining the individual presence of them.
Studies were carried out for user flow, security measures, interaction levels, needs, potential pain points, a journey of internal and external visitors, population pattern of spaces, etc. All these are required at the right distance, right spot which increase the complexity of the design. It is an open office of modern days with a hint of privacy.
The concept revolved around creating three major parts: public meeting areas, cafeteria, and main work area. Each part was aimed for a different form of footfall and was aimed to reflect different mood setting using lights, material, and textures. Design of meeting rooms facilitated formal collaboration requirements from large group to small one on one meeting, each area was provisioned with screen sharing, call facility, and scheduling. Informal and impromptu interaction spaces were spread across creating cove and islands of conversations. Management committee was enabled with a telepresence room, and an informal brainstorming area called the war room that had large screens for data viewing.
Brands splash across offices occupying a designated space creating the ambiance through materials, collateral sea furniture. Use of neutral colors at large scale provided a perfect backdrop for the company’s dynamic branding and values associated with each of their owned brands to stand out. Splash of corporate colors in training room brings life and makes it a vibrant space. Brewery brick panorama gives a welcoming entrance to the office. Furniture and lounges, brick and wood, exposed ceiling and AC duct bring in the rawness and pub culture into the office. Cafe sections were designed as beer pub with rough brick, exposed concrete and dark wood with coltan metal. Racetrack layout with access control in internal sections and secure zones keep the movement flexible and uncluttered. From a mind mapping standpoint, the layout of the workspace is extremely simple and functional with designated spots where each utility makes the daily work operations very smooth and easy.
Defining collaborative spaces based on the type of floor population—meeting area that had public access, internal users work area, a cafeteria for casual interactions and town hall meetings.
Telepresence room, war rooms, screen sharing facilities, tele booths, and wide tabletops with cushioned pedestals further enhances the wide array of collaborative possibilities on the scales of planned impromptu and small to large interactions.
Use of neutral colors gives a perfect backdrop and upholds the company's dynamic branding values.
Design highlights further include a splash of corporate colors for training rooms and a brewery brick panorama entrance for the office.
